New Wave

Stones Throw Bar the small sign read. The cozy space vibrated with music as people trickled in, filling up the spaces from which the music echoed. The atmosphere was pleasant with chatter, friends greeted and ran jokes, while some sat tuning in keenly to what […]

Expression Wednesdays

Hi Everyone 🙂

If you missed New Wave on Monday night, you missed something great. I love this platform, it is giving rise to the new wave, it allows upcoming artistes and artists to show their worth. (Bonus there is delicious vegetarian food on sale.) This week showcased Mortimer and Lila Ike, with art from Monique Kidd on display. I was already a Mortimer fan, I posted a song by him on the blog recently; but Lila Ike blew me away. Her voice is a unique one, and every note sounded sweet to the ears. She loves to freestyle, and I enjoyed that, because good lyrical flowing has a special place in my heart. Her performance truly left me pondering why she doesn’t have these songs released yet. The two songs I was really fond of were “Biggest Fan” and “Rain Start Fall.”

So, New Wave made me decide to bring to you Miss Lila Ike. Take a listen to “Believe” by Foresta featuring Lila Ike & Royal Blu.

Upcoming Events!

How has February been treating you so far? To put it frankly this has been my worst Reggae Month to date but the month isn’t over, and there’s still more events scheduled. I’ll be sharing a few upcoming events that I know about with you, check them out below.

One Coco: Inzzpire365

This Coco was definitely by chance; that sunny Saturday afternoon I stopped by a Pop-up Shop at Apparel and More. Simply to pick up a candle I had ordered from Ngozi Sweet Blessings but while there I was urged by the host to look around. And there I found Inzzpire365.

I’m picky with jewellery and scrutinized the table carefully, I saw nothing to my liking, the owner asked if I needed any assistance, to which I replied, “I was just looking,” though I had already decided there was nothing for me here. Just as I was turning away she engaged further conversation, asking if I liked piercings, I do. Now intrigued she showed me some faux ear cuffs made of coloured wire, I still didn’t see one for me until I noticed the cuff she was wearing. She had on an orange faux cuff on her tragus, and I loved it. So I asked what other colours she had in that design, and that’s how I purchased a gold ear cuff.

Bob Marley 72

Happy Birthday to Mr. Robert Nesta Marley OM, (1945-1981). Today we celebrate a legend, a life cut short quite early, at the age of 36 but to us, to me he still lives on. He brought Reggae music to the world and I’m glad I […]
